Your mind · Step 1 of 6

Catch it before it drives.

A thought, a feeling, an urge. Three things to look for. Seeing them is the whole step.

Most of the day we are inside the feeling, not looking at it. Something lands: an email, a look, a silence. A thought arrives, the body tightens, and an urge pulls you towards doing something. It takes about a second.

Catching it means stepping back one pace and watching it, the way you would watch someone else. The feeling does not go away. It stops driving.

After redundancy

  • Thought“I should have seen it coming.”
  • Bodya tight chest.
  • Urgeto start fixing things.

One question

What is my mind saying, where do I feel it in my body, and what does it want me to do?

One action today

Once today, stop and say it silently: the thought, the feeling, the urge. Then carry on. That is a win.

Carry this

I am the one watching. The thought is not the whole of me.

One action in a day is a win. Do not do the whole path in a day.
